Spark Bentley Speed Six - 1st 1929 Le Mans 24 Hours - #1 1:43 Product Information
Spark 1:43 resin model of the #1 Bentley Speed Six as driven to victory by Woolf Barnato and Tim Birkin in the 1929 Le Mans 24 Hours. The 1929 Le Mans 24 Hours saw one of the most dominant displays in the history of the event. Tim Birkin set a new lap record in his Bentley Speed Six on the very first lap, from a standing start. From there, he and Woolf Barnato went on to take victory by a commanding margin of some seven laps. The next three cars behind them were also Bentleys! The first non-Bentley home was a Stutz, 21 laps off the pace. Such was Bentley’s advantage that the Crewe machines were able to stage a formation finish at the end of the race, which was quite a novelty at the time. Motor magazine described the spectacle as ‘superb, disposed in line ahead like a squadron of battleships’. The 1929 edition of the race was the third of Bentley’s run of four consecutive successes in the enduro, and the fourth of its six in total.
