Spark Chenard et Walcker Sport - 1st 1923 Le Mans 24 Hours - #9 1:43 Product Information
Spark 1:43 resin model of the #9 Chenard et Walcker Sport that Andre Lagache and Rene Leonard drove to victory in the 1923 Le Mans 24 Hours. 1923 marked the first running of what would become the world’s most famous endurance race: the Le Mans 24 Hours. It was held in May, but after being hit by heavy rain the decision was taken to move it to its now-traditional June date the following year. The rain finally eased off on Sunday morning (convoys having formed during the night behind those cars with functioning headlights!), at which point the two Chenard et Walcker Sports were running clear at the head of the field. Andre Lagache and Rene Leonard made history in the #9 machine as the first ever winners of the event, followed home by their team-mates Christian Dauvergne and Raoul Bachmann in the #10 car.
