Matrix 1:43 resin model of the 1974-1975 Aston Martin Lagonda Series 1 in red metallic. Aston Martin was facing financial pressure in the mid-1970s and needed something enticing to bring in some much-needed funds. Traditionally the marque had produced 2+2 sports cars, but for the Lagonda it went with a four-door saloon. It was launched at the 1974 London Motor Show. The Series 1 was powered by a 5.3 litre V8 engine, buyers able to choose between a five-speed manual or automatic transmission. Only seven Series 1s were sold, the completely redesigned wedge-shaped Series 2 being launched in 1976, and not actually being delivered until 1979.
