KK Lamborghini Espada S2 1970 - Gold Metallic 1:18 model car Product Information
KK 1:18 diecast model of the 1970 Lamborghini Espada S2 in gold metallic. The Espada certainly divided opinion when it was released, and in fact still does to this day, particularly in our office! Whilst some enthusiasts loved its angular lines, others were of the opinion that it was a little ungainly and square to pass muster as a bone fide supercar. It was Marcello Gandini who designed the machine, the Bertone man taking inspiration from his two 1967 show cars; the Marzal and the Pirana. The Espada was never a candidate for the fastest car in the world although, when it was launched in 1968, its 150 mph+ performance was still pretty impressive. And it could whisk four people across continents in considerable comfort. The Espada was produced for 10 years, encompassing three series, with 1,217 examples constructed in total. KK has chosen to model the second iteration of the machine, which was unveiled at the 1970 Brussels Motor Show, and built until 1972. The only outward change from the S1 was the deletion of the grille covering the vertical glass tail panel. The changes to the interior were more radical, beginning with an all-new dashboard, centre console and steering wheel. The centre armrest was also revised, and the ventilation for rear passengers was improved. Mechanically, the compression ratio of the 4.0 litre, V12 engine was increased to up the car’s output from 325 bhp to 350 bhp.
