Cult Aston Martin DB7 1993-1999 - Bowland Black 1:18 model car

Cult 1:18 resin model of the 1993-1999 Aston Martin DB7 in Bowland Black. The DB7 was first presented to the public at the 1993 Geneva Motor Show. It was positioned as an 'entry-level' model beneath the hand-built V8 Virage that had been introduced a few years prior. The DB7 began life as a successor to the Jaguar XJS, Jaguar owning Aston Martin at the time. Jaguar had been struggling to replace the XJS on its own due to its weak financial position. When Ford acquired Jaguar (and therefore Aston Martin) it immeditely canned any Jaguar-badged projects to replace the XJS. Not to be denied, Jaguar's Tom Walkinshaw collaborated with Aston Martin CEO Walter Hayes on the project to succeed the XJS. Ian Callum, who had initially penned the concept of the Jaguar project, was tasked with redesigning it so that it looked like an Aston Martin instead. Due to limited financial backing, the final product shared many components from other marques owned by Ford, such as the tail lights from the Mazda 323 F, the front indicator lenses from the Mazda MX-3 and the interior door mirror switches from the Ford Scorpio. Due to the overwhelmingly positive reception that the car received on its debut at Geneva in 1993, it was put into production as the DB7. With the Virage continuing to be produced at Newport Pagnell, a new factory was acquired at Bloxham, Oxfordshire for the production of the DB7. The car would continue to be constructed until 2004, when it was replaced by the DB9. 7,000 Aston Martin DB7s were produced in total.
