CMC Alfa Romeo P3 - 1st 1932 Italian Grand Prix - #8 T. Nuvolari 1:18 Product Information
CMC 1:18 diecast model of the #8 Alfa Romeo P3 as driven to victory by Tazio Nuvolari in the 1932 Italian Grand Prix. The Alfa Romeo P3 Tipo B was widely acknowledged to be the first ever genuine single-seater grand prix racing car. It was designed by Vittorio Jano, and based on the successful P2 that had preceded it. The P3 was powered by a supercharged eight-cylinder engine, and was very light for the period, despite its cast iron engine block. The car was introduced in June 1932, and was a winner from the moment it took to the track. Caracciola and Nuvolari took numerous successes with it over the course of the year. In 1933 Alfa Romeo suffered with financial difficulties, and after missing the first half of the season it handed its P3s over to a certain Enzo Ferrari. As you would expect, these replicas will feature the stunning levels of detail that are associated with CMC. The P3 is made up of 1,805 separate parts, over half of which are metal. The bonnet can be opened on both sides with realistically replicated spring fasteners, to reveal the highly detailed eight-cylinder in-line engine. Not only that, but the two Roots superchargers and all ancillary units and wiring as well! The stainless steel spoked wheels are detachable, fastened by central locking nuts that feature side-dependent threads. The petrol, water and oil filler caps can all be opened, while the cockpit features a leather seat and a dashboard incorporating all of the P3’s gauges and controls. Finally, the front and rear suspension are faithfully reproduced with leaf springs and friction shock absorbers.
