Mattel has released the first model in their Elite in Music collection; Jay Kay’s black Ferrari Enzo. Of course, it is well known that the Jamiroquai singer has a fantastic collection of cars, ranging from a Mercedes 300 SL Roadster to an Audi RS4 Avant. The pride of his collection, however, is a black Ferrari Enzo. He is so enamoured with the car that he wrote a song about it called “Black Devil Car”. He considers himself pretty lucky, as only 400 Enzos were produced, and he was deemed worthy enough to own one. Last March, the beloved Ferrari made the news when its windscreen and side window were smashed by an angry chef. It cost Jay £30,000 to put it right! It’s fair to say that Mattel have done a better job with the Elite in Music Collection than they have done with their Film and TV replicas. The packaging is fully licensed, with pictures of Jay Kay all over the box. The 1:18 Mattel replica looks great, and Mattel have faithfully replicated the flamboyant bright green interior. Of course, there are several opening parts and the engine detail is really impressive. But what will turn this great model into something very special indeed is Jay Kay’s signature. We are delighted that he has signed a limited edition of just 50 models for us. This is a unique opportunity.
